Using headphones to monitor one side of the playlist

We’re looking to see if you can use headphones to cue up music to a certain spot, while a song is playing from the other playlist.
In other words, if we have music running from a list on the right, but we want to cue up music to a different point in time on the left, how would we do that? Would we have to have more than one sound card? Is this something that is readily available without changing inputs or output settings in the preferences list while the other song was running? The long and short of it is: can we do what we want to do now using a headset and could we avoid modifying too many things so it will still transition over to the left side without flipping outputs back and forth???

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can do. All you have to do is to

  1. choose an monitoring soundcard (or a channel of one soundcard)
  2. activate the monitor channel for a soundplayer (press the MON button)
  3. adjust the monitor volume

Hi there, found this post because I’m running into an issue trying to monitor. I’m currently running the free (evaluation) version - still trying to figure out if I should take the plunge and spend the $ - on Ubuntu 64bit, and I have a TurtleBeach usb audio card as OSS dsp1, dsp0 is the internal sound card. I’m able to get audio through either channel if I define Player one to dsp0 and the other player to dsp1, but if I have both players defined to dsp0 and the monitors defined to dsp1, nothing happens when I hit monitor on either player, the audio still comes through simultaneously over dsp0. Am I missing some key piece?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Christian

Never mind, sorry, I’m an idiot. As soon as I wrote the previous post, I went back in to Ultramixer and found the MON volume control.

Thanks,
Christian

Ok, no problem

Hello !

Maybe I am dumb…but I did’t find the MON volume control !!

Where is it ???

I have the same problem…When I hit the MON button, nothing happen after, I hear nothing in my headphones. I set the same channel (Audio 2 DJ 1/2 ASIO) for player 1 & 2 and same channel (audio 2 DJ 3/4 ASIO) for monitor 1 & 2.

Thank you
