Random Sound cut out

Hi,
I am using Ultramixer 3.1 on a Windows 7 platform with a Numark USB DJ-IO external sound card. Everything was working ok for a while, but recently at random the sound cuts out, even though Ultramixer is still playing the music. I opened iTunes then (while Ultramixer was still running) and played a track, and the sound does come out, so I am leaning toward a software issue since the device works with iTunes.

Has anyone had a similar issue and a solution?
