I’m getting clicking sounds, very apparent while playing mp3s. I’m using thr basic edition on Opensuse 10.2, dell xps 1210 with integrated audio. shows the only sound source as OSS (/dev/dsp(-OSS)) . it’s a SigmaTel STAC9221 A1 soundcard. any ideas what may be causing this?
Hi p0lymer,
did you already try to increase the DSP buffer count and sizes? Preferences/Audio …

yes, but it still clicks. are there optimum setting values? i don’t know if it matters, but I’m running Core 2 @ 2Ghz, 1.5GB ram@ 667Mhz.
when I used to run reaktor on windows, there was a setting in audio preferences that could set the buffer, usually around 33ms, to eliminate distortion and staticky clicking… is there a way to do that in UltraMixer?
Hi p0lymer,
the optimum values for most systems are set by default or reset them by a right click on the slider. Obviously, they don’t work for you. The higher the values the better it should run. Unfortunately, you will get a higher latency when increasing the buffer sizes.

thanks for the help, but it still clicks when just starting the program, not even playing anything
after asking a friend who’s familiar with sound recording, he seems to think it may be an audio driver issue. I’m going to examine the driver settings, he says it might be clocking errors
holy autocorrect… I tried opening /dev/dsp with /etc/Sysconfig editor (i’m a linux n00b, and don’t exactly know what the hell I’m doing), and the clicking stopped.
linux is so odd
edit nope, the clicking came back. it’s gotta be some sort of sampling/clocking error
Hi p0lymer,
did you find a solution for your problem?
